Poor Sleep and waking up to noise, again.

Writer's picture: ScottScott

Yesterday I woke up peacefully. This morning I woke up to irate patients. ai believe it was due to them being woken up to breakfast and they weren’t happy about it. Normally that kind of anger makes me super anxious but in my barely awake state I just didn’t care. Anyway, it took me nearly 3 hours to fall asleep last night. This happens once in a while; the sedative side effect of my medication seems to not work, which means I struggle to get to sleep. There was the noise of all the bedrooms doors, where windows were left open and the pressure in the rooms makes them knock against their frames slightly. But you have to have your window open a bit otherwise you wake up in a pool of sweat. I could also hear another patient talking to themselves quite loudly and it was pissing me off. I stuck my head out in the corridor, past lights out, and there was this ominous breeze that made the place seem really creepy. It‘s about to be lunch time now, and I think I’ve caught a cold.❤️

Thank you for your messages. I do appreciate them. This is my 5th entry in the last 12 years and I’ve been in this hospital 3 times now. For the most of it the hospital and the staff are good. The other patients are ok too. They are vastly different from the last two times I was in here. I’ve communicated with a couple of them but staying in my room mostly. Got my Nintendo switch to play on and a book to read. Getting plenty of rest too. I wish I had my laptop because then I could write my third book. If feel safe in here, it’s just not the most fun or calm place in the world.

Probably hard to believe but u get used to people talking to themselves surprisingly quick hopefully u won’t be in long enough too but in case you are don’t worry too much about it. If sleep is really hard u could ask for a sleeping tablet it can be really helpful.

Both of the last times I was in we had the fire alarm go off at like 3am now that was awful 😂

I know it’s not easy but really try to settle in the hospital because u might be in a little longer. Hopefully not but if u are it’s best if u let yourself settle in. I suggest talking to the other patients you’d be surprised the…
